Clair hosted a workshop for our Leadership Team Retreat last summer. He provided meaningful insight into how we can communicate with each other more effectively. All participants reflected on the significance of honest and respectful dialog as we work together to face our common challenges.

In fall 2016, Clair was one of our speakers at TEDxUSU, a premier event on campus designed to showcase innovative thinkers at Utah State. Clair was selected from a large pool of faculty auditions, and he was a joy to work with throughout the talk development process. Clair put in a huge amount of effort into his talk on the beauty of conflict, and it paid off; his presentation was informative, funny and touching. It struck a chord with our in-person audience, and it also inspired our online audience. The YouTube video of his talk has been viewed more than 70,000 times, making it the most popular talk from that year, and one of the most popular talks we’ve ever had at TEDxUSU. In addition to delivering an exceptional talk, Clair was a generous member of the TEDxUSU team, as he provided useful feedback to the other speakers as they were developing their presentations. He helped create a fun, collaborative environment that put the other speakers at ease and helped them give their best performances as well.

Clair gave our team an edge when competing in the Utah Real Estate Challenge. Our presentation had a concise and clear objective after Clair reviewed and revised it. Not only did he help prior to the competition, but he gave us skills that allowed us to appear collected, calm and communicate with clarity when it really mattered.

In August 2015, I became an elementary school principal after 20 years in the classroom and sought out Clair Canfield and his exciting communication workshop. My school teamed up with Heritage Elementary and together our staff learned to change our paradigms concerning conflict. Before attending his workshop, I thought of conflict as something horrible. Now I see conflict as an opportunity to improve relationships. The lessons I learned from Clair have also helped in my personal life as well. I wish my faculty could participate in these workshops every year! Every organization and family would benefit from this opportunity.

As the director of the English Language Center of Cache Valley, a nonprofit organization, we are constantly looking for ways to market our organization. Keeping up with the demands of the ever-changing world of fund seeking is especially daunting. Clair Canfield is, undoubtedly, one of the most inspirational people I have ever met. He gives clear direction and makes more sense about how to move an organization forward than any other source I have found. After meeting with Clair, I determined that I had learned more from him in thirty minutes than I had from attending week-long fund raising conferences. I have been director of our organization for twenty years and I like to think I have learned to throw out what doesn’t work and keep what does work. Clair Canfield is a keeper!
— Katie Jensen - Director for English Language Center of Cache Valley

Clair gave a presentation on public speaking at our club’s student/professional conference this spring. He did an excellent job making the presentation relevant, engaging, and meaningful to an audience mostly made up of engineering students. It was a pleasure to work with him and we would love to have him back in the future.
— Emily Young - SPAC
Clair is an outstanding presenter who engages audiences with energy and interaction. Clair’s presentation at our conference provided not only applicable content for the office space, but for personal life.
— Garret Steed - Managing Director of Public Relations for Partners in Business
Clair’s workshops on communication and conflict are life-changing. His presentations provide a new and empowering way to approach conflict in all relationships. His teaching style is engaging and allows each participant the opportunity to learn and internalize change through their own experiences and perceptions of the world.
— Barbara Warnes - Mountain West Center for Regional Studies
Clair Canfield is a master trainer/educator and is a cornerstone in our academic advisor training program. We are thrilled with the training he provides because the level of service to our university students has improved as a direct result of his training. Our advisors keep asking for him because they learn so much from each session and feel connected to him as he has taken the time to understand their jobs and teaches using appropriate examples.
